CHRIST on I-285
55How the "Cross" changed my life and how it can change yours.
It was a sunny day in Atlanta, Georgia when I made my first discovery of childlike imagination, a faculty of mind. I had often read about it (childlike mind) in God's word, but didn't quite understand it fully. I'd like to share something incredible that happened to me that triggered this faculty within me. I chose this topic to encourage every reader who may be going through life's many challenges to believe that the presence of God is with us no matter where we are or who we are, if we'd only believe and imagine it so.
On Interstate 285 westbound this faculty was exercised while I was driving and on my way to work. At the time I worked second shift (3pm - 11pm). As I merged into traffic from the ramp directly behind me in approximately two (2) car link distance, I saw in my rear view mirror a 18-wheeler tractor trailor approaching. On the tractor trailors' grill a cross is mounted. Well, immediately my mind started spinning creating one of the most beautiful experiences I'd ever had. I began imagining Jesus following closely to reassure me that He's behind me in all that I do right in my life and even when I'm occassionally wrong.
Though, I could not see who was behind the wheel of the tractor trailor, I knew there had to be a driver unless it was controlled by remote. And, on a busy interstate who would dare try their hand at this. So, the same way I can't see Jesus I know He is ever there. The truck stayed behind me a short time then passing me on the left at about 70 miles a hour. My imagination continued as cars eased over in front of me slowing me down before I reached the next on coming ramp. My childlike mind imagination used these cars as symbolic meaning for distractions, distractions that were trying to make me lose focus. I eased off the accelerator to let more cars onto the Interstate. By now the tractor trailor was at approximately 3-4 car links ahead of me in the same lane as I. I quickly got over to pass all the cars that dipped in between us in order to catch up with Jesus :).
I imagined, if I could just close the gap no other vehicle will come in between, while Jesus led the way down the highway into eternity at a higher speed now. I stayed close behind Jesus until I was escorted to the exit where I enter a new highway refreshed and anew. Wow! what an adrenalin rush. This experience assured me that though there be many obstacles that may come in my life I was protected and if I would stay focused on Jesus I can overcome all that try to come in between to make me stop believing in myself, Jesus and His presence in my life. I also realized I had seen this truck before during night time hours. This truck is more beautiful when all the lights are on, and especially the cross. I wonder if this truck driver knows how much of a difference he's making in peoples lives driving around like this. I know for sure he's made a difference in mine. So, I'd like to send out a "special" thank you to this truck driver for sharing with me His message when I needed it.
In Matthew 11:25 Jesus prayed and thanked His father (God) for revealing certain things to those who are childlike and not to those who thought themselves to be wise and clever. Innocently humbling ourselves to Gods' "Way" the best we can brings about the joy and happiness we seek. And, in the meantime this faculty can be stimulated and exercized if so desired. Have you ever had something you were going through, had no idea of what the answer could be to your problem? I tell you, just look around you and you will find the answer through all that's positive and good. For me, it was this particular truck.
